Boy Dolls by Walda
Page 2 - Ashton Drake Boy  Dolls
What a cutie this 13 inch toddler boy doll is!  Little Stevie is the first issue in "Caught In The Act", an entertaining collection of mischievous child dolls. He is designed by artist Mary Tretter, and produced under the hallmark of the Ashton-Drake Galleries. He comes with a miniature roll of toilet paper, and is designed to be posed "Caught in The Act" of running down the hall, unrolling it. This doll has the title "Catch Me If You Can", and all of the dolls in this collection will bring a smile of recognition to everyone who has raised children.  Remember those naughty moments that were oh so cute?
The edition ended forever on December 31, 1993, at which time molds for the doll were broken. Stevie is made with a porcelain head, lower arms and hands, and lower legs and feet. The remainder of the doll is made of cloth. He has a wire armature that allows him to be positioned in a manner to depict action. Marks: Back of left leg - 1992, Ashton-Drake Galleries; back of shoulder plate - Mary Tretter; back of head - 6290LB (the same number is on the certificate of authenticity).

The attention to detail in his construction is impressive.  His two-prong stand is inserted into a cloth sleeve sewn to the back of the doll, which ensures a smooth appearance and helps to make the doll stand less noticeable. Stevie's PJs are made of a light-weight fleece material, and the giraffe's eyes have beads which move around inside of the clear plastic balls, producing a really cute, slightly goofy, look. Very nice construction, snap closure up the back, even has those little round slip-proof nubs on the soles of his PJ feet.

Stevie comes with his small arm tag; his Certificate of Authenticity;
a booklet that describes the doll's design theme and info about the
artist; and a third paper that has a photo of the doll on one side, with
unpacking,  positioning, and care instructions on the reverse.

Matthew - an original edition in the Yolanda's Picture-Perfect Babies collection. Commissioned by the Ashton-Drake Galleries and created by Yolanda Bello for the Edwin M. Knowles China Company in 1987.  This is the first series of baby dolls ever to bear the name of the Edwin M. Knowles China Company.  Edition was strictly limited through the year of issue.

Matthew comes with his small arm tag; his Certificate of Authenticity; and a booklet that describes the doll's design theme and information about the artist.

There is also a miniature version.
Matthew is in a sitting position, and the distance from table top to the top of his hat is approx 10 inches.  He is the perfect size for displaying in a cabinet or on a shelf.  He is made with a hand painted porcelain head, lower arms and hands, and legs and feet. The remainder of the doll is made of cloth. He has molded painted hair and inset eyes.  Marks: Back of right leg - 1987, Edwin M Knowles; back of head - 4093M (the same number is on the certificate of authenticity), Yolanda Bello.

The attention to detail in his construction and outfit is impressive.  He wears a well made two piece sailor suit with a sailor style cap, dickey, and red tie; two-tone shoes, and socks.  He also has a navy blanket with white ribbon trim - never removed from its package.
